Acceptable Usage Technology Policy
Before accessing any technology at school be it on personal or school devices, all students must agree to accept the terms in the Acceptable Usage Technology Policy. Students found in breach of this policy may be excluded from accessing technology or the internet at school for a period of time.
It is important that all students, parents and teachers have a shared understanding of these regulations as stipulated by the Department of Education.
Please make an appointment to speak with the Principal if you have any questions.
Bring your own device (BYOD)
At Lake South we are working to utilise technology as a learning tool.
Children live in a world where technology is part of their everyday life. Through education, children learn to use technology appropriately and effectively to engage in a global community. Each teacher and each classroom will utilise technology in a different way. Speak to your child's teacher to see if the BYOD program will run in their classroom that year.
It is not compulsory for students to bring their own device and a student will not be disadvantaged if they do not bring their own device. Students have access to school computers and iPads as part of their learning.
It is completely at the parent's / caregiver's discretion if a student brings a device to school. This decision will be supported by the school.
If you choose to allow your child to bring technology such as a laptop or tablet to school, there are two things you must do before they can bring it:
1) Read the school's Bring Your Own Device Policy.
2) Return the completed BYOD student agreement. This must be completed each calendar year.
