Wellbeing
At Lake Illawarra South Public School, we understand that nurturing wellbeing is essential to successful learning. We strive to create a safe, respectful and welcoming environment where every student feels ready to learn and valued as part of our community. When students feel a strong sense of belonging, they flourish both academically and personally.
Guided by the NSW Department of Education’s Wellbeing Framework, we ensure that each student is known, valued and cared for. Our approach blends consistent whole-school practices with personalised support, fostering a positive learning environment where students are actively engaged and connected to their school community.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday life at Lake Illawarra South Public School.
We do this by:
- knowing every child and fostering a culture of belonging and inclusion
- communicating clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- developing trusting partnerships with families
- incorporating movement breaks throughout the school day
- supporting social skill development
- encouraging regular school attendance
- providing access to school counsellors, a school chaplain and specialist staff
- supporting students through key transition periods
- developing health care plans for students
- providing nutritious food options at school.
